"Now Called El Azteca"

Reviewed
A real pleasant find. New owners make some of the best Mexican food in town. Chips and Salsa are excellent. We ordered the Fajitas for 2. ($19.99) Chicken and Beef on a bed of onions and peppers. Great flavor and huge portions, served with hot tortillas. Did I mention the Margaritas are real good also? Service was quick and there is plenty of parking at the door. El Azteca is located just east of the Starlite theater on the strip.

Service was terrible. Server not happy to offer coffee or provide a bill that was rung up on the register. Food on the other hand was fine for the price. We did not have to wait long for the food.

John R's review is RIGHT ON. Unacceptable is the word. This place was horrible. We waited an eternity to be seated, even though there were only two other tables and plenty of people working. Once we were seated, it took probably 10 minutes for them to com eback and take drink orders, and then another 15 to bring the drinks and take the food order, then maybe 20 more minutes for 2 entrees to come out. One was disgusting and not edible, the other was incorrect. We explained it wasn't what we ordered and the waitress made no effort to correct it and didn't apologize. The workers were indifferent or rude, standing around doing NOTHING and they couldn't be bothered with us. I'd been to the Hollister location as well and the food was good but the service was on the ride side there, too, though not as bad. Perhaps this terrible service stems from the owners or who they recruit. AVOID.

"Decent"

I am a native Texan, so my opinion of Mex is jaded by being raised on Tex Mex. the fajitas are passable, without homemade tortillas (you from Texas know what I mean), they fall flat. Not bad, but not great, not sure if they are always skirt steak (which is the TRUE AUTHENTIC fajita meat), but sometimes you need Fajitas, good or bad. The salsa rojo and verde are again, passable but not great. The service is generally good, with spots of horrible service at times. It is no Mama Ninfa's or the lesser know Don Picos from Houston, but for SW MO, not bad.
